What we’ve learned from registering for wedding gifts

  • We apparently don’t really want/need enough things.
  • Just because we won’t use it doesn’t mean we don’t need to register for it.
  • “Just register for this, you can always exchange it for what you really want!” (That’s actually not okay with me)
  • I will not ask people to buy me towels that are more than $30 a piece. I just refuse.
  • Apparently people who work at Bed, Bath & Beyond are convinced no one buys several small gifts at once. I’ve done it several times and have seen many others do it. I guess they don’t think about poor young folk.
  • Registering is a really good way to get into an argument over something stupid like measuring cups or shower curtains.
  • My fiance apparently cares about how many shower curtains we register for.
  • He actually has a lot of opinions about a lot of things (which is good, because I really don’t care what kind of cookware we get).
  • Pyrex is superior.
  • I need to chop vegetables all the time, and I never knew it.
  • I need too many trash cans.
  • I am not one to sort through all the options. I look until I find one I like, and settle on it (but that’s not how I picked Tim).
  • We tend to like simple, basic, black/white things (actually, we already knew that).
  • I really have no idea what color KitchenAid mixer I should want. Still deciding.
  • “You don’t need to register for that! It’s really a gift card item.”
  • “But we already have one!” is not an acceptable thing to say.
  • After you’re “set loose” with the scanner, scan less than ten items and leave. You can do the rest online anyway.
  • It’s easier to just do it all online to begin with.

  1. So true on all of these things! I have been married for almost 11 years and the only things that we still have and use daily is the dishes and the cutting board. LOL! and you will chop things daily. :)

    • I’m sure we’ll use a lot of these things a fair amount, as Tim likes to do “special projects” in the kitchen and I cook 5 days out of the week. It’s just so funny to see how a salesperson wants you to register, and what I go back and change online.

  2. Good to know, we haven’t registered yet, but are soon……will keep this in mind….and I have no idea what color kitchen aid. Mixer to get either..LOL

    • Just try not to be overwhelmed! The initial one I chose ended up not being available. Looking at green apple or sky blue. :)
